Enabling Location permissions

All instructions on how to manage your location permissions with the Quin Within App

Written by Karan

Why Is Location Access So Important?

Your location is one of the most critical pieces of information in an emergency. The Quin Within app requires location access to help keep you safe when it matters most.

If an accident occurs, knowing your location is essential for identifying where you may need assistance. Without accurate location information, the app will not share your whereabouts with emergency responders, potentially delaying or preventing help from reaching you.

For your safety, we strongly recommend keeping location permissions enabled at all times, including background location access, so Quin's safety features can function as intended.

Disclaimer: Location permissions are necessary for Quin's safety features to function. This is critical for SOS alerts, Safe Return, Quin Response System. These safety features are only available for protective gear owners.

For responders who do not own any protective gear this is completely optional.

Navigating to Device Permissions

From the Home Page, tap the Safety icon in the bottom navigation bar

If background location access has not been granted, you’ll see a message at the top of the screen that says:

On iPhone: “You are at risk! Please review the following settings.”

On Android: “Background Location permissions not provided”

Below the message, tap the Device Permissions button on the far left of the widget row. This will take you to your phone’s location service settings for the Quin Within App.

Granting Location Permissions

For iPhone Users:

  • In the app settings page, tap Location.

  • Under “Allow Location Access,” select Always.

This ensures the Quin Within app can access your exact location while working in the background.

For Android Users:

  • In the app settings page, Tap Permissions > Location

  • Choose Allow all the time to give continuous location access.

If prompted, confirm changes to your device permission policy.

Disclaimer: Safety features like the SOS alerts, Safe return, Quin Response System all require the Quin Within App to run in the background to be able to function on occurrence of any critical event.

Confirmation Message

Return to the Safety section in the Quin Within App.

You should now see a confirmation:

“Location permissions have been granted. You can now access all location-based features.”
